How to Deep Clean Your Bedroom

Keeping your bedroom organised is a good thing, but deep cleaning it is everything! More than just wiping and dusting, your bedroom needs your attention as it requires more time and energy in cleaning because this is where you spend most of your time. Surely you don’t want your bed of roses to be a bed of germs as well, right?

Here are easy ways how to deep clean your bedroom:

1. Strip and load.

Start with stripping the bed of sheets, pillowcases, comforter, and mattress cover. Take the curtains down as well. Throw them into the washing machine by batch and don’t forget to set the timer in case you get so in the zone while cleaning.

Pro tip: Grab a flat sheet and spread it over the bed to protect it from dirt and dust while you’re cleaning. Your rugs can be vacuumed outside.

2. Grab and keep.

Go around the room before dusting and wiping. Take stuff off of your dressers and tables and put them in storage bins. Decide which ones should be returned to its original place after and which ones should be thrown into your donation bin. File away all your paperwork lying everywhere and discard your unread magazines. Keep the books as well before you start cleaning.

3. Wash and wipe.

With a pail of warm soapy water and microfiber cloth, as well as your disinfectant, start washing down all of your room’s surfaces. Use a damp cloth to wash the window sills, bed frames, photo frames, bedside lamps, door knobs and handles, light switches, drawer handles, and clocks. These are the surfaces that you don’t know are breeding grounds for germs. Wipe your mirrors with a clean piece of paper soaked in water or a microfiber cloth.

Pro tip: Remember that in dusting and wiping, start from the highest point of your room down to the bottom so that you won’t be knocking dust onto the surfaces that you’ve already cleaned.

4. Lift and vacuum.

After wiping and dusting, you can now take your mattress off so you can vacuum clean underneath your bed. Also, you can lift the mattress and wipe the floor. After this, put the mattress back in place and change your sheets, linens, and pillowcases.

5. Declutter and organise.

Empty your drawers and put all your clothing items on your clean bed. Go through them and consider donating clothes that you don’t wear anymore. Less is more, right? Wipe out or vacuum your drawers before putting back your clothes.

6. Go the extra mile.

If you own a humidifier, make sure that you clean it by filling the tank with a mixture of water and vinegar. Let the mixture sit in for a few hours before you rinse it. Wipe your humidifier down the body and spout.

And last but not the least, don’t forget to empty the trash bin that’s been sitting in your bedroom for some time now!
