Stain is an inevitable part of life. From your furniture and the carpet to your clothes and the walls, these stains are stubborn and frustrating enough to ruin your day. But before you discard clothes ruined by stains, you can try these effective and reliable stain removers that can be easily found in your home.

1. Soda

Your favourite drink doesn't just quench thirst, it can also help you remove stains. Soak your clothes in a basin full of soda overnight to help lift the stains. Or, you can pour a bottle of soda in your washing machine with your powerful detergent to completely wash out the stains.

This cooking and baking staple can also work its magic on your fabrics. With delicate fabrics such as silk and leather, stain can be aggravating but what you can do is to blot it with cornstarch, leave it for 20 minutes or until it has absorbed the stain. Then, use a clean piece of cloth or toothbrush to remove the powder and voila, good as new!

3. Salt

Accidentally pouring wine over your crisp white dress can ruin not just your beautiful dress but your day (or night) as well. Here’s an easy way to get rid of the stain: before you wash it, sprinkle a pinch of salt on the stain and let it sit for five minutes. Do not forget to rub the stain as you rinse your dress with cold water.

4. Lemon

We all know that lemons are great in removing any kind of stains. To get rid of sweat stains, you can directly rub lemon juice onto the fabric or create a powerful mixture of water and lemon. For the ink stains, you can mix cream of tartar with lemon juice to create a stain removal paste.

Your excess Splenda packets can also help remove stains! Just blot any oil or grease with a bit of this artificial sweetener and you’re done.

Makeup stains on clothes can be a little tricky to remove, but your hairspray can do the trick. Saturate the area with hairspray for 10 minutes and then dab a damp cloth on it. Easy peasy!

Yes, aspirin can also be an effective stain remover! Create a paste by crushing three pills and mixing it with two tablespoons of warm water. Apply it to sweat and yellowish stains and let it sit for an hour.

8. Egg yolk

Coffee spills in the morning can turn already ruin your mood. Worry no more because with just a mix of egg yolk, a few drops of alcohol, and warm water, you can concoct a powerful mixture that can remove the smell and stain of coffee on your table cloth or fave shirt.
