Ever felt like you have to make a mad dash to the DIY hardware store every time you have a home project or chore to complete? Cue in these quick home hacks that are so easy to do and make so much sense, you’ll wonder why you never thought of them before.

1. Instead of chopping up fresh herbs with your kitchen knife (and praying you won’t slice up your fingers every single time), go at them using a pizza cutter. Simply gather the herbs on the cutting board, and with a little pressure, roll the cutter over them back and forth.

2. Gather old baby food bottles or containers and create holes on the lids by hammering nails on them several times (or simply cover up the container with foil poked through with holes). Then fill the bottle ¼ of the way with baking soda, pour in a few drops of your preferred essential oil, and place the bottle in an inconspicuous part of the room—like on the topmost shelf. Every now and then, shake it up to refresh the scent.

If you want your entire house to smell really good, check out this tip from a former Williams Sonoma employee: Throw in lemon slices and a few sprigs of fresh rosemary in a pot of water, and pour in one to two teaspoons of vanilla. Let the mixture simmer the whole day, and it’ll fill every nook and cranny of your entire home.
