3. Sony's new OLED and LCD 4K HDR TV series with refined picture quality and enhanced user experience

Sony announced new and expanded 4K HDR television series designed to deliver enhanced contrast, colour, and clarity. The A8F and X9000F series are the newest options to enjoy refined 4K HDR picture quality thanks to Sony’s proprietary innovations. Sony expands the BRAVIA OLED line-up to deliver cutting-edge premium OLED TVs to a wider audience. The new A8F series has inherited Sony’s unique 4K HDR picture processor-X1TM Extreme, and the Acoustic Surface technology to give not only high visual quality but awe-inspiring sound. As an OLED TV, the A8F series produces an incredibly detailed picture with deep blacks, rich and realistic colours, and an exceptionally wide viewing angle. Sony’s more than half a century worth of picture processing expertise lends to precise control of the 8 million OLED pixels for a stunning realisation of an unparalleled 4K HDR picture, while Acoustic Surface technology allows the sound to come from the screen, creating an entertainment experience with a beautiful picture.

In parallel, Sony has expanded the LCD screen TV line-up to meet the increasing customer demands for a wider variety of large screen premium 4K HDR televisions. The new X9000F series, equipped with the X1 Extreme processor, will be available in 85’’, 75’’, 65’’, 55’’ and 49’’ class. Both the A8F and the X9000F series will support Dolby VisionTM, the HDR format from Dolby Laboratories. It creates an even more immersive, engaging cinematic experience with striking highlights, deeper darks and vibrant colours.

4. LG’s first 4K UHD projectors receives CES’ Best of Innovation

LG’s HU80K series is the recipient of CES’ Best of Innovation award for delivering ultra-sharp video and a home cinema experience in a compact, beautiful design. Without sacrificing on image quality, LG came up with a premium device that is half the size of competing 4K projectors while still being easier on the wallet—promising great cinematic experience, thanks to its excellent 4K picture quality and portable size, meaning that the movie environment can be created in any room of the house at any time. With high-quality video content being available to consumers in more formats than ever before, the benefit of a device with the versatility to display streaming content as easily as a Blu-ray disc has never been more apparent. LG’s 4K UHD projector can create a 150-inch screen at an amazing 2,500 lumens, making this LG’s brightest projector. What’s more, the LG 4K UHD projector also supports HDR content (HDR 10) for an eye-popping cinematic experience in the home. The two powerful yet clear 7W speakers deliver a true cinematic audio experience without the need for external speakers or a soundbar.

"At this year’s CES event, we are excited to bring value to consumers with our first 4K UHD projector, which delivers the highest resolution we’ve ever offered in a compact size," said Chang Ik-hwan, head of LG's IT business division. "LG's 4K UHD projector will lead the way in changing how consumers view 4K content in any room in the home, wherever there's an audience."

5. Philips Lighting and Razer join forces to create a powerful, immersive gaming experience

Philips Lighting announced its first partnership for Philips Hue Entertainment with Razer, the world’s leading lifestyle brand for gamers. To provide gamers with a new level of spatial immersion, the companies have integrated the Philips Hue Entertainment API and tools with the Razer Chroma lighting ecosystem. Gamers will be able to sync their Philips Hue colour-capable smart lighting with their Razer Chroma-enabled devices, including laptops, keyboards, mice and mousepads, and enjoy light effects that enhance their gameplay and content. Game developers will be able to create lighting effects that change dynamically during gameplay. Gamers can already enjoy these in-game lighting effects when playing Overwatch™, Quake Champions™, and other popular games.

“We’re excited about this first integration to bring Philips Hue Entertainment to life for consumers. We have seen high demand from gamers for a richer game-play experience,” said Chris Worp, Business Group Leader Home at Philips Lighting. “Our smart lighting can deliver just that. Philips Hue takes the content beyond the screen and extends it into the living room. For gamers, this ‘surround sound for your eyes’ is incredibly powerful when synced with the Razer Chroma-enabled devices.”

Philips Lighting’s partnership with Razer also provides gamers with a richer lighting experience when not playing games. They can sync their connected lighting with their gear and select any light setting to create a perfect ambiance, whether relaxing, hosting friends or simply surfing the Web.
