1. Baby and children gear brand Childhome is now in Singapore!

Belgium-born Childhome, which offers anything baby-related, has opened a store at Homes65 at 65 Mohamed Sultan Road. 2. Asia's largest cabinetry manufacturer OPPEIN unveils new showroom in South of Manila

OPPEIN has opened a new showroom in South of Manila to enable property owners and developers to style and customise homes with some of the world’s best furnishing solutions. Located at the ground floor of Commercenter Building along Commerce Avenue in Filinvest Corporate City in Alabang, the OPPEIN showroom features the latest kitchen cabinets, wardrobe systems, bathroom fixtures, and home furniture that come in various styles and designs to meet the discriminating taste of modern home owners.

3. WATG's inaugural Architectural Bake-Off in Singapore

World-renowned and award-winning integrated design firm WATG recently hosted the first Great Architectural Bake-Off in Singapore. The inaugural event, which was held in partnership with Archifest 2017, saw some of Singapore’s biggest design firms battle it out, as they competed head-to-head to create some of the world’s most iconic buildings, entirely out of cake. The team from DP Architects were crowned this year’s winners with their winning entry of Singapore’s iconic Esplanade. WATG came in second place with their realistic representation of the Yanlord Crowne Plaza Resort “The Boat,” Hainan Island, China. The tastiest building went to CPG with their creation of Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay.

“We were truly blown with all of the entries that we had this year,” said Chris Panfil, Vice President and Director of Strategic Planning & Urban Design at WATG. “All teams showed a great level of commitment and the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. The standard of design was outstanding and following the success of this year, we’re already looking forward to hosting 2018 here again in Singapore.”

4. King Living presents the Reo Grande and Cassia Day beds

5. Singtel and Ericsson to launch Singapore’s first 5G Centre of Excellence

Singtel and Ericsson will jointly establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) to faciliate 5G development and deployment in Singapore. 5G, the next-generation mobile network technology, is expected to roll out globally from 2020 and will deliver massive connectivity, ultra-low latency, gigabit speeds, and enable advanced applications such as smart cities, Internet of Things (IoT), augmented reality and autonomous vehicles. Co-funded by Singtel and Ericsson with an initial investment of S$2 million over the next three years, CoE aims to spearhead the development of Singapore’s 5G mobile network infrastructure to support future Smart Nation initiatives. It will also be open to Optus, and Singtel’s regional associates across Asia and Africa to encourage knowledge sharing within the Singtel Group.

Activities will kick off in the later part of 2017, starting with Ericsson providing 5G expertise and conducting workshops, followed by field testing and hands-on experience to equip more than 100 Singtel engineers with critical competencies in designing and operating a 5G network. 5G demos will be set up in Singtel’s Comcentre headquarters to showcase future 5G application possibilities such as, immersive experience on Augmented Reality, enablement of haptic feedback in surgical operations and remote medical education. Starting next year, a mobile 5G test bed will be deployed to carry out live 5G field trials with key enterprise customers. Singtel will also engage research and tertiary institutions on potential collaboration opportunities to test 5G radios and possible applications that can benefit from the high speeds and low latency provided by 5G.
