5 Things You Should Know This Week: 17 April 2018

These are some of the news you should know this week:

1. Dyson unveils cord-free vacuum cleaner

Here's a powerful stick to help you with your cleaning chores. Dyson unveiled its most advanced motor technology to date. The all-new Dyson digital motor V10 is almost half the weight of its predecessor, the Dyson digital motor V8. It is Dyson’s fastest and most power-dense digital vacuum motor—spinning at up to125,000 rpm. Sitting at the heart of the new Dyson Cyclone V10 cord-free vacuum cleaner, it drives powerful suction, with all the versatility that comes from the cord-free format.

"A strong performing machine starts with an efficient motor. The Dyson digital motor V10 is Dyson’s most advanced. It’s what enabled us to entirely change the format of a vacuum cleaner, to achieve Dyson’s best ever cord-free machine performance. The Dyson Cyclone V10 vacuum is so light, so powerful, it can deep clean anywhere in your home. It is the reason why I’ve stopped developing full-size vacuums," said James Dyson.

The Dyson Cyclone V10 cord-free vacuum is built around the Dyson digital motor V10. The new motor allowed Dyson engineers to rotate the cyclones and bin assembly by 90 degrees, into an in-line format. This creates a linear airflow path—improving the number of Air Watts of suction by 20%. It also allows a "point and shoot" bin emptying mechanism for ease of use. And with a choice of up to 40% bigger bin capacity, you can clean more of your home and empty less. The Dyson Cyclone V10 is now available on shop.dyson.com.sg and major departmental and electrical stores.

2. Ariston introduces 1st-ever storage water heater in Singapore with Ag+ Silver Ions

Ariston launched the same slim concept as that of the Ariston Andris Slim 20 (SL20) of storage water heater with 30L capacity to fit the needs of bigger homes or families with higher usage needs. This new model is called the Ariston Andris Slim 30 (SL30). The SL30 is also the first storage water heater in Singapore that comes with Ag+ Silver Ions to provide greater hygiene to its users.

To step up on its ability to provide cleaner water to its users, Ariston Thermo Group developed the Ag+ technology to inhibit bacteria proliferation in its water tanks. With the Ag+ cartridge technology, the SL30 comes with an added anti-bacterial feature to actively stop the proliferation of e-coli, salmonella, legionella, mold, fungi, and more. Silver spheres are placed inside the tank in a customised cartridge, at the level of the water inlet pipe, allowing the water contained in the tank to receive bacteriostatic effect by coming in contact with Ag+ spheres. As a result, water produced from the SL30 water heater is cleaner and more hygienic for its users. The SL30 can be purchased from all authorised dealers in Singapore. It retails at $389, with a launch promotional price at $359.
