1. AkzoNobel launches a series of family-friendly product and colour innovations

The leading global paints and coatings company launched a new comprehensive and innovative painting system—Dulux Far Away Places for children's rooms—and eco-certified Dulux Wash & Wear with added Anti-Bacterial formulation. These new offerings are developed specifically for families and seek to take home design up another notch, while further extending the benefits of existing technology, such as the KidProof+ Technology present in Dulux Wash & Wear.

The Dulux Far Away Places kit is a painting system comprising of eight magical themes, multiple decorative assets as well as a wide variety of 48 colours to choose from. Seeking to bring a magical new Dulux experience into consumer’s homes unlike anything seen before, this kit enables parents and their kids to create a room of their dreams, one that inspires "imaginative play" in the home. Consisting of six Dulux Colour Play packs, a set of stencils, a set of stickers, masking tapes and How-to-Do guides, the Dulux Far Away Places kit is available in eight different themes: Under the Sea, Princess Castle, Up in the Sky, Into the Woods, Safari Land, City of Heroes, Into Space, and Treasure Island.

As a complementing colour concept, the Dulux Far Away Places kit works best with the Dulux Wash & Wear, the brand’s range of washable water-based emulsion paints that help protect walls from stains and bacteria, featuring the innovative Kidproof+ technology. The technology acts as a film coating that prevents and delays stains from penetrating deep into the walls, allowing for easy clean ups. It comes with the added benefit of Anti-Bacterial formulation, adding a layer of protection to inhibit bacteria growth on walls. Also formulated with Dulux Colourguard Technology, colours are locked in to ensure walls look beautiful and fresh for longer. Being Singapore GreenLabel Certified and low in volatile organic compounds (VOC), this paint is also better for the environment.

2. Snoopy stars in UNIQLO’s Second KAWS x PEANUTS UT Collection

And our favourite character is back! UNIQLO announces the release of a second Peanuts collection for the UT (UNIQLO T-shirts) range with world-renowned contemporary artist, KAWS. The collection will feature all-black, New York City-inspired designs and will be available in all UNIQLO stores and on www.uniqlo.com/sg from 24 November. UT is a key component of UNIQLO’s LifeWear range—it fuses fashion with authentic pop culture and art graphics from around the world. It also serves as a tool for expressing the personality and values of wearers. LifeWear is about innovative, high-quality clothing that is universal in design and comfort, and made for everyone, everywhere.

Key highlights for this collection include the Snoopy plush toys featuring KAWS’ signature cross-out eyes which were made with fabric selected by the artist himself, as well as the introduction of women’s items in response to popular demand so that couples and families can enjoy the collection together. The 12-piece collection comprises UTs, hooded sweatshirts, sweat pullovers and the iconic plush toy in two sizes: Small and Medium, with prices ranging from $14.90 for a Kid’s UT to $49.90 for a medium-sized plush toy.

3. Microsoft Learning Tools expands learning accessibility to iPad and Microsoft Edge

Empowering every person starts in the classroom. Hence, Microsoft announced the extension of Learning Tools Immersive Reader to Word for iPad, Read Aloud in Microsoft Edge, and new third party research showing the impact of Learning Tools on student learning outcomes.

New Learning Tools Research: In partnership with Katherine McKnight, PhD at RTI International’s Center for Evaluation & Study of Educational Equity, the study found students using Microsoft’s Learning Tools saw a 10 percent increase in reading comprehension. Educators also stated Learning Tools improves learning equity for struggling readers, including students with dyslexia by enabling access to learning materials in other content areas like math, science and social studies.

Immersive Reader on Word for iPad: Inclusive technology should be available to all students, regardless of which platform they are using. Starting in November, Immersive Reader features will be added to Word for iPad, including Read Aloud and Text Spacing.

Read Aloud in Microsoft Edge: Lastly, Microsoft announced Read Aloud in Microsoft Edge as part of the Fall Creators Update. With Read Aloud in Microsoft Edge, students can open any Web page, PDF or ePub and have Microsoft Edge read the content aloud with word and line highlighting for focused reading.
