5 Things You Should Know This Week: 25 June 2018

These are some of the news you should know this week:

1. Get a chance to win a set of football and jersey signed by Kakà at LG Nano Cell TV campaign video

Hey football fans, listen up! LG Electronics released a video titled "LG Nano Cell Super Challenge," which stars former Brazilian football superstar Kakà, and showcases the premium LG SUPER UHD TV, which incorporates the company’s Nano Cell™ technology. The video has exceeded 200 million views, marking LG’s first video to reach this milestone.

As part of the campaign, LG Singapore is organising a Facebook contest and the winning participant will walk away with a set of football and jersey signed by Kakà. Joining the contest is simple: (1) Like the LG Singapore Facebook page; (2) Watch the video and tell us why Kakà could only find the right target with the LG SUPER UHD TV with Nanocell Technology; (3) Share the post.

The video emphasises the importance of viewing angle as consumers tend to watch TV not only from the front but also from off-axis positions. They often watch sports on TV with family or friends in the living room and view TV in the kitchen while cooking or washing dishes. The deterioration of a TV’s colour reproduction and contrast when viewed off-axis negatively affects the overall viewing experience. On top of enhanced image rendering and accurate colour from wide viewing angles, LG’s 2018 SUPER UHD TVs with FALD backlighting allow for denser backlighting zones throughout the display, contrary to edge-lighting where backlights are positioned on the edges behind the TV panel. LG’s technology significantly improves black levels and picture dimensions by independent control of LED light zones, offering better shadow details and reducing light bleeding. This ensures enhanced local contrast which is critical for viewing HDR content.

2. Global bathroom inspirations from Victoria + Albert

British brand Victoria + Albert understands that committing to a certain design may be daunting, especially with the average household only renovating their bathrooms every 20 years or so. To aid you in your decision-making process, the brand brings a selection of inspirational spaces from the world’s most desirable locations.

Coupled with the minimalistic décor, the bath and basin accentuates the simplistic but striking details of the pared-back bathroom while the modern chandelier adds an artistic touch.

3. Sony introduces the RX100 VI Cyber-shot camera

The innovative new RX100 VI camera is the first of all the RX100 models to include a high magnification zoom lens, as it packs in an impressive ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T* 24-200mm F2.8 – F4.5 lens yet doesn’t sacrifice the pocket-size portability, fast responsiveness and high image quality that has become the hallmark of Sony’s RX100 line-up. Its extensive zoom, impressive image quality and versatility for both still images and video make it an ideal choice for capturing daily life, cityscapes, portraiture, sports, wildlife and everything in between. The new model is equipped with a 20.1 MP 1.0-type stacked Exmor RSTM CMOS image sensor with DRAM chip and an upgraded BIONZ XTM image processing system with a front-end LSI that maximises processing speed and optimises image quality in all shooting environments. Additionally, the RX100 VI features an incredibly efficient Fast Hybrid AF system with 315-point phase-detection AF points on the sensor that can acquire focus in as little as 0.03 seconds, the world’s fastest AF acquisition time for 1.0-type sensor cameras. It can also shoot at up to 24 fps5 at full resolution with continuous AF/AE tracking and produces beautiful 4K8 video with full pixel readout and no pixel binning.

A first for Sony’s RX series, RX100 VI has a touch shutter that can be activated by tapping the back LCD screen, a zoom lever with customisable zoom speeds and an LCD that can be rotated 180 degrees upward or 90 degrees downward for a variety of shooting angles for the creator. There is also a Monitor Auto OFF function that boosts maximum number of still images by up to 30%, and the camera is also Wi-Fi®, NFCTM and Bluetooth® compatible. The new Sony Cyber-shot RX100 VI compact camera will be available in Singapore this month. For more information, visit this link.
