These homes are one of the most photographed, filmed, and iconic of its time and style, but Melbourne-based photographer Tom Blachford captured them in a different light, and quite literally at that. By using only the moonlight as a source of illumination, Blachford shot the bungalow-style Palm Springs homes designed by William Krisel and Dan Palmer during the period between 1955 and 1965. The photographs were displayed at a recent exhibition at Modern Times in Australia, and are up for sale here.

A native of Dominican Republic and a favourite of many A-listers in the showbiz and fashion industries (one of his most recent projects was the gown of Amal Alammudin for her wedding to George Clooney last month), Oscar de la Renta was also known for his exquisite collections of home items. Among these were his teak bowls, animal-print tumblers, and Moroccan side tables. A mass for family and his closest friends will be held on 4 November at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in Manhattan.

We’re loving this designed lamp by Caterina Moretti called the Mokki planter/lamp. It has a lamp shaped like a little house that emits a soft, soothing light, and comes in a box that acts as its “garden” of sorts—you can customise this garden as it comes with miniature landscaping materials, like plants, rocks or pebbles, and other little decorations. This design also incorporates elements from Japanese bonsai and Zen gardens. And if you’re bored with its current look, simply switch up your landscaping. It’s a perfect way to get a little light on your tabletop, and practice your budding green thumb as well.
