Does Your Home Look Tired? Here's How To Enliven It

Getting tired of the usual look of your home? Thinking of renovating but don’t know where to start and don’t have enough budget to do it? Well, you can still liven up your home’s exhausted look without breaking the bank. Take advantage of what you already have and hit the reset button to refresh your home.

Here’s what you can do to make cost-effective changes and bring new life to your home:

1. Move the rug from the bedroom to the living room.

Updating the floor can bring energy to your space. If you have a faux fur rug in your bedroom, maybe it’s time to move it to the living room to overhaul the space with a simple repositioning of a room accent.

2. Add bright-coloured pillows.

Nothing can spice up your space the way colourful throw pillows do. Change pillow cases seasonally to complete the changed look you want to achieve in any room.

3. Rearrange artwork.

Instead of buying another table accent or wall painting, you can move pieces of artwork from one room to another and it will create a completely different feel in your home. Art pieces can create small yet impactful changes in your home.

4. Give your shelves a boost.

Easily transform your bookshelves by covering it with a different colour or wallpaper. Use warm hues to get an instant boost and a pop of colour in your space.

5. Paint the walls.

Just like your bookshelves, your accent walls can help freshen up your space, too. If you are not sure which colour to use, look around you and start finding an inspiration. It can be your couch or an accessory. It can also be a piece of art hanging on your wall or a design on your pillow. Regardless of the inspo, the key is to select a colour that will complement your room decor.

6. Repaint your furniture.

Bright colours will give your home an unexpected boost. Update your old pieces of furniture by covering them with a fresh coat of bright colour to energise your space.

7. Display houseplants.

Plants will naturally give life and warmth to your space. Choose easy-to-grow plants that you can take care of indoors. Choose a spot in your home where it can receive four to six hours worth of sunlight. Or, if you don’t know how to arrange them, here are console ideas for your green babies.

8. Shuffle the furniture.

Create a completely different perspective in your home by rearranging your furniture. You can either reverse the layout of your room or reorient the pieces to face a new direction. You can go a bit further by removing pieces that are not in use as they can add clutter to the space.

9. And lastly, declutter.

To make sure that your space never loses its radiance and life, you should declutter regularly. Devote at least 10 minutes of your day to stow away pieces that will only make the room cluttered. This way, you can create a calmer, more organised, and a refurbished look without spending a dime.
