How to Give Your Home a Lot of Personality

Your home is a reflection of yourself. No matter what your lifestyle is, remember that this is your residence and it should not hide or conceal your personality. In translating your style into your home, you don’t need to spend a lot of bucks just to create a beautiful space. All you have to do is to choose the best pieces that can show off your sparkling personality.

Do not be afraid to do what you think will make your house look interesting. Let your personality shine in your home with these tips:

1. Show ‘em what you love.

If you’ve got a hobby that you love most, then there is no reason why it shouldn’t have a place in your home. If you love music, go ahead and display your favourite instruments. Rather than letting it accumulate dust in your storage room, these pieces will surely serve as an easy conversation starter when you entertain your guests.

2. Pick a pattern and play with it.

Patterns really say a lot about your personality. If you are the adventurous type, bold prints are a good choice for you to personalise your place. You can use patterns on pillow cases, curtains, rugs, or small pieces of art. Whichever pattern you choose is up to you—let the patterns and colours mimic who you are.

3. Without art, there won’t be heart.

If you are an art aficionado, the best thing to do is to display your massive art collection by having a gallery wall. Whether you buy, commission a custom piece, or do the art on your own, as long as you can make your walls describe what you are, then you are on the right track. Remember that owning pieces of art is good, but having a certain connection with it is better.

4. Change your room colour.

Just like patterns, colour says a lot about you. There are a lot of colours which you can associate your personality with. If you are sweet and subtle, pastel hues like blush, grey, and sky blue are a perfect fit for you. If you are bold enough, loud and vivacious colours such as red, orange, and purple will suit you well.

And if you are a mix of both, you can combine these colours to your advantage. Setting the mood of your space by choosing the best colour that fits your personality is a simple yet effective way of letting who you are visible.

5. DIY your space.

If you’re a DIY goddess, this is the best option to give personality to your home. Handmade items will let your creativity flow inside your room and it’s nice to tinker on things once in a while, right? If you are not a crafty person, you can start with small projects such as key holders, vases, terrarium, or organiser. By doing so, you can put a personal spin on your space.

6. Show off your family treasures.

Heirlooms and family treasures can also add character and personality to your space. A doily from great grandma, your mom’s treasured china, keepsakes, and other items that have been passed down to you will remind you of your ancestors and your traditions—a great reminder of who you are as a person.

7. Mix and match.

Mismatched pieces won’t make you look disorganised if you know how to do it well. Matching pieces of furniture can be boring and monotonous. You need to take your time to carefully curate items that speak a lot about you. Then, thoughtfully mix and match these pieces of furniture or room accent and let your room explode with personality.
