Spaces We Love: Playful Bedrooms in Singaporean Homes

Let’s admit it, a playful bedroom looks so inviting and impressive. Not only because it is stylish and creative, but it is also perfect for everyone—even those who are young at heart.

However, playful does not only mean cute or packed with cartoon characters all over. It can also be something that is reflective of your personality—youthful, fun, and entertaining. Designing a bedroom that is both youthful and chic is possible, you just need to have a truckload of imagination.

Here are playful bedroom ideas that you can utilise regardless of age:

1. Design by Rezt n Relax

Splash your walls with geometric shapes—either go for wall stickers that are available everywhere or DIY it by using painter’s tape. These shapes will give your room a youthful and energetic vibe. Also, choose colours that will contribute to the cohesive look of the whole space.

2. Design by The Scientist

If you are on a budget, there is a way to make your bedroom perky enough for you. Make it stand out by painting the doors of your closet in different colours. This bedroom in a Toa Payoh home immediately grabs your attention because of the colour blocks in bold hues. It can instantly lift your spirit up when you get home after a long day at work.

3. Design by Orange Cube

Sliding doors can bring a sense of ease, style, and playful sophistication. It can turn a boring space into a brilliant, high-spirited space that offers a fresh perspective to the owners. Take your cue from this room in an Emerald Park flat.

4. Design by Eightytwo

Keep your kids busy by creating a wall that will bring out the best in them—and while keeping your sanity intact. Paint a portion of their bedroom with chalk paint and let them doodle and design their own space.

5. Design by Story of Us

Bunk beds are a great option if you want to save up on floor space. However, don’t settle on having a traditional one as it may bore your kids at one point. Be inspired by this custom-made contemporary bunk bed in a unit in Heron Bay that adds a touch of playfulness in the room.

6. Design by Free Space Intent

Patterns and prints can also add a playful element to your room. This vibrant room in Aroozoo Ave features modern materials juxtaposed with old elements such as the tiles used, most of which are in Peranakan motif. Aside from the stylish tiles, the owners opted to have a wall of floral ventilation bricks that serves as a feature wall and divider. And to complete the look and function of the room, an attic space was created just above the bedroom for recreational use.
