Simple, spacious, and child-friendly (for their precious little girl and boy)—these were the considerations when couple Wan Firdaus and Hafizah designed their 93-sq.-ft. BTO flat in Punggol. They used alternating tones of black and white to serve as the backdrop of a stylish home peppered with pastel-hued chic accessories. The muted color scheme provided the oomph factor to this Scandinavian-style family flat.

"We chose Jesswan Interior as we easily connected with our ID since the first time we met for quotation. From there, we feel comfortable with them and also, we were attracted by their reasonable offer. Our ID is very understandable and able to accommodate our needs and work things out within our budget. And yes, we are happy with the outcome of their work!" beams Hafizah.

Adds Wan Firdaus," What makes a space beautiful? Sleek and clean look with bright spaces. As they say, less is always more. I love the open concept of our house because it looks spacious and bright."

Step into this stylish Scandinavian HDB flat in Punggol:

Living Room

A brick wall that conceals the bomb shelter welcomes you into this serene space. Although the bluish grey sofa set and coffee tables feature midcentury modern styles—the pencil legs add a stylish element to this space—the soft shades of Scandinavian decors (thanks to the pretty table vignette, greenery, and floor lamp) provide the air of on-point trendiness.

"The living room is the area where we spend most of our time together as a family: it's the place where we watch our favourite show, movies, have a meal and even, sleep there throughout the night!"

Kitchen and Dining Room

Wan Firdaus and Hafizah wanted to achieve a minimalist monochromatic style for their cooking and dining areas. Adhering to the tried-and-tested black-and-white combo, their kitchen features white leather cabinets and black marble countertop. "We hacked our kitchen wall to make it open-concept. It's looking so much spacious now. Plus, I can always look up to the kids in the living room easily while cooking or doing kitchen chores," says Hafizah.

The black Eames-style dining chairs and minimalist dining table look sleek and sophisticated in their dining room.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom was kept simple—it just needed to be comfortable and cosy for the couple. Although small in size, the bedroom is not short on style—all thanks to the dark grey wall and cute personal touches in the bed linen, pillows, and vanity table.

Kids' Room

Although overwhelmed with black and white decors, the kids' room is totally Instagram-worthy! What do we love about this room? Too many: the cute accessories here and there, the light pink-washed wall, that princess-style canopy prettified by golden stars, adorable cushions, the kitchen set!
