5 Things You Should Know This Week: 18 June 2018

These are some of the news you should know this week:

1. Electrolux debuts the latest appliances for the modern homeowner

A global leader in both household and professional appliances for over 90 years, the Swedish-born company recently introduced four new products to the Singapore market: CombiSteam SousVide Oven with Vacuum Sealer, ComfortLift Dishwasher, PUREi9 Robotic Vacuum, and UltimateCare Series Washing Machine with UltraMix System.

The Electrolux CombiSteam SousVide with Vacuum Sealer oven (to debut on September 2018) is a state-of-the-art appliance that takes food preparation to a whole new level with the addition of a steam sous vide function and a built-in vacuum sealer. Besides the essential baking, grilling and roasting functions, the product provides the home cook with the option to prepare dishes sous vide style. Key feature highlights include Sous Vide (a technique that requires food to be vacuum-packed and then cooked in a water bath) and VacSealer (an essential step to sous vide preparation is vacuum sealing the food and ingredients).

The Electrolux ComfortLift spotlights several features that make this a must-have for the homeowner who values spending time with family and friends over doing the dishes! It has been awarded multiple recognised design awards including the prestigious, internationally-recognised Gold iF Design Award and the Reddot product design award—thanks to its innovative design and unique lifting system for efficient loading. Key highlight features include ComfortLift (raises the dishwasher’s lower basket to a comfortable height with the simple touch of a button), AirDry Technology (the washer automatically opens the door to about 10cm in final few minutes of the drying process to maximise the drying and eliminate humidity quickly from inside the machine), FlexiWash, and FlexiSpray.

The hardworking Electrolux PUREi9 Robotic Vacuum has several qualities that make it stand above its competitors. Using laser technology, the PUREi9 is able to detect obstacles in a 3D format and avoids unnecessary collisions, getting stuck or falling off stairs. It also boasts the ability to analyse, and climb, obstacles of up to 2.2cm in height, the highest in the market to date.

The 4 ticks MWELS water efficiency rated Electrolux UltimateCare Washing Machine has also won the Singapore Good Design Mark Awards (SG Mark) for its innovative design that is invented to extend the lifespan of clothes while reducing the environmental impacts brought by “fast fashion." With several intuitive functions to draw on, the front-load Electrolux UltimateCare Series Washing Machine with UltraMix System is designed to provide a more efficient and gentler wash experience.

The Philips PowerPro Compact, designed and developed in The Netherlands, won over the iF jury made up of independent experts from all over the world, with its robust and powerful design. The Philips PowerPro Compact vacuum displays the Power Cyclone through clear side panels, which emphasises the key innovation. 4. Epson named world’s number one projector brand in Southeast Asia and worldwide for 17 consecutive years

Epson has been named the number one projector brand in Southeast Asia as well as worldwide by Futuresource Consulting, having held the leadership position for 17 consecutive years. The milestone reflects Epson’s continued market leadership and constant innovation in the visual imaging industry. The brand's worldwide market share for projectors have increased consistently over the last 17 years to maintain its continued dominance. For the home projectors segment, Epson has achieved the largest market share for projectors 500-lumen and above worldwide at 42.2 percent for 2017, an increase from 39.1 percent in 2016.

At the heart of Epson’s projectors is its proprietary 3LCD technology, which enables Epson projectors to deliver the most vibrant and true-to-life images with up to 3 times higher colour brightness compared to 1-chip DLP projectors in the market. In contrast to 3-chip 3LCD projectors, 1-chip DLP projectors use a rotating colour wheel that spins at a rapid speed, only displaying colours sequentially, which can result in colour break-up or the "rainbow effect."

These smoke detectors are SCDP certified, meeting all the requirements to offering early smoke detection and protection.
