2. MUJI Flagship Store opens at Plaza Singapura.

On 21 July, MUJI opened its doors to Singaporean shoppers as it unveils its first flagship store in Southeast Asia. With a store size spanning over approximately 1,640 sqm, MUJI Plaza Singapura will be the largest retail outlet in Singapore. More than just a retail space, MUJI at Plaza Singapura will reveal new original concepts adapted from MUJI Japan.

New concepts are introduced exclusively for Plaza Singapura outlet where customers can learn about unique tradition, culture and design. Positioned as a community store that encourages interaction between customers and products, MUJI Plaza Singapura has an Open MUJI concept, an open space which will be used for educational activities such as exhibition, gallery, creative workshops and for hosting talks. The store also houses new merchandise line from series such as Found MUJI, IDÉE, and MUJI Labo all of which focuses on origins, ideas, and style. The unique store, which features never-before-seen design elements, will also be home to the third Café&Meal MUJI that can seat 70 diners.

4. Singtel unveils campaign to inspire Singaporeans to power on beyond National Day.

Singtel launched an integrated multimedia campaign to rally Singaporeans to keep up the Majulah spirit to propel the nation towards bigger and better. The month-long campaign pays tribute to Singaporeans from all walks of life, who have, in their own ways, contributed to the making of the nation. It features Singaporeans from different backgrounds coming together as one nation to seize opportunities, overcome challenges and keep on striving. Jointly developed with BBH, the Singtel campaign will roll out 12 print ads in the run up to 9 August, featuring portraits of Singaporeans and their aspirations on banners and posters at bus stops across the island and on social media. Well-known photographer and instagrammer Chia Aik Beng was enlisted to capture a representative spectrum of society and their different hopes for the country. A customised National Day frame will be made available on Facebook for users to download and partake in the celebratory greetings. Singtel will also release a video, dedicated to Singaporeans’ go-getting spirit.

The second part of this month-long campaign will feature Singapore’s athletes heading to the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur from August 19 to 30 in their quest for sporting glory for the nation. Supporting Team Singapore at the upcoming SEA Games is part of Singtel’s ongoing partnership with the Singapore National Olympic Council to develop the local sporting scene. Under this recently renewed partnership that started as far back as 2012, Singtel will help fund the training of the nation’s athletes to promote and develop sports in Singapore. The 'Power On' campaign will feature six partner athletes in content that aims to promote a sporting culture and inspire Singaporeans during major athletic events. They are: Joseph Schooling (Swimming), Loh Zhi (Water Polo), Mark Leong (Water Ski), Nur Alfian (Silat), Shanti Pereira (Track and Field), and Shayna Ng (Bowling).
