How much do you really know about dandruff? Check these out:
1. Loads of people have it.
Dandruff is essentially when your scalp has scales and flakes. According to Better Health, around 50% of the population suffer from it and its other symptoms, such as dryness and itchiness. It's not contagious condition, just an annoying one.
2. Alternating temperatures can cause flaky dramas.
A change in season can heighten the dryness of your scalp, causing serious flaky dramas. Very hot or very cold can make a dry scalp seem worse. That could mean from going to a scorching heat outside, to walking into a cool room with air conditioning.
3. Your age, gender, skin type, and diet can all influence flakes.
Flakes can generally begin to appear during young adulthood, but having oily skin can also predispose you to having an oily scalp. So if you are pregnant or on puberty stage, it's more likely you will experience heightened symptoms of dandruff.
4. Washing your hair more often will make your dandruff worse.
Dandruff poses the opposite problem. Not shampooing enough will only make your dandruff worse. It causes more oil and dead skin cells to accumulate on your scalp, which the yeast and fungi will continue to feed on.
5. Your beauty tools could also cause your flakes.
If you have a dry scalp and you use hot styling tools on the regular then this could actually be a trigger for itchiness and flakiness. It's common to experience a dry scalp when you frequently use hot styling tools.
